We understand that our guests still need to be connected even during holiday time so all of our self-catering cottages have free wifi for whenever it is needed. We also have smart TVs in all of our luxury holiday cottages so that guests can connect to their favourite series or watch a family movie.

But at Kames Castle we are also proud to be able to offer a more traditional, fun-filled family holiday. For families and groups staying in our accomodation on the Isle of Bute there are lots of things to whatever the weather. We have a small nine-hole putting green, tennis (the only court on the island) and giant chess in the walled garden… to name but a few. But for those quiet nights in, or if you are looking for something to do on a rainy day, we also supply a variety of board games.

Each cosy cottage has a different selection of games so there is something to suit all ages and interests. If you have a few hours to spend on a game of skill, chance and strategy then there is the timeless appeal of Monopoly. Bring the family around the table to negotiate, build empires and form alliances. Or if you prefer a more intellectual challenge, then the game of Scrabble is the perfect option…just watch out for those overly creative words! For younger guests we also have some games that are a little more easy to understand, but still lots of family fun. There is Who’s Who for a fun game of deduction and memory and the tumbling tower of Jenga is a game that tests dexterity but also everyone’s nerves as the tower grows more unstable.

So why not put a few logs on the fire, persuade the kids to put the devices to one side, and settle down to an evening of good old-fashioned family entertainment !
