Kames Castle in the News

Kames Castle in the News image

This article, published last year in the Isle of Bute News, gives an interesting overview of the renovations work carried out to date on Kames Castle. Now known to be 14th Century, the castle has undergone extensive exterior renovations this ensuring the integrity of the building.  The parapeted roof has also been fully renovated with extensive lead-works ensuring the building is watertight.  The cement rendering, a fashionable but ultimately destructive trend of the 1970s, has also also removed and the original stonework painstakingly cleaned and pointed.  Future works will focus on the interior of the building with plans now drawn up to return the building to its former glory and ultimately becoming a stunning centrepiece to the properties at Kames Estate.
