Nestled in the picturesque village of Port Bannatyne, and just a short walk from Kames Castle Cottages, the Port Post Office on the Isle of Bute offers all the services of a post office but so much more in addition. We warmly encourage all our guests to pop along to see what’s on offer and support this bustling local business.

Locals and visitors to the Isle of Bute alike can enjoy a blend of convenience, comfort and charm. Whether you are dropping off a parcel, picking up some essentials or simply looking for a cosy spot to relax for an hour or so, a warm welcome awaits.  There is a cafe with cosy log burner offering breakfast, brunch and lunch options. Tasty tea and coffee, home made cakes and milkshakes, delicious scones, tasty sandwiches and curly fries - there is something to suit all tastes with veggies and vegans also catered for of course. On sunny days there is a lovely sun trap garden at the back of the property with space for kiddies and four legged friends too. 

The well equipped store has all that you need for your stay on the island. Milk, bread and newspapers, toiletries, kitchen essentials as well as a range of  groceries.  There are also souvenirs from the island, small toys and games for the youngsters - even buckets and spades for a day at the beach. 

Of course the post office provides all the usual postal services including Royal Mail drop off and collection, bill payment, foreign currencies and telephone top ups. 

The Post Office is a pleasant 5 minute walk from the gates of Kames Castle Cottages. The walk is along the seafront overlooking Kames Bay and the Port Bannatyne marina.  There’s also a number of info points along the way displaying interesting historical information about the village.
